We were on a 14 day journey to the Panama Canal. Our Ports of call were at five South American countries, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico ; San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia and Aruba. View Panama Canal Cruise- March 13-27 2012 in a larger map

Steve and ML, I just discovered the photos of your Panama Canal cruise. My wife and I are taking the same Princess cruise in April. Do you have any suggestions on what to do or not do in San Juan Del Sur and Puntarenas?
Thanks, Bill & Gloria Waggoner
Hi Bill and Gloria,
Glad you found our blog.
Oh, I would say you will be fascinated as you crossed the Panama Canal. In San Juan Del Sur, we took the tour that included a hike to a volcano called Mombacho and city highlights. In Puntarenas, we took the Rainforest tour which was a long drive (1 1/2 hr )from the port. We both enjoyed the tour so I can not really say what not to do.
The stop we liked the most was at Cartagena.
Hope that helps. and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for your comments on the cruise excursions. We enjoy your RV and travel blog. We just bought a 2009 Pleasure-Way and look forward to taking it on the road soon. Hope our paths cross sometime.
