Welcome to our refreshed blog site!

When we retired in 2012, we documented and shared our adventures as we traveled and explored our beautiful country for eight years while living full-time in an RV we named Betsy. This was how our blog site was born. We then sold our beloved “house on wheels” and have taken root in a sticks-and-bricks home in Arizona. Since then, our travel goals have been focused on seeing what’s out there in the rest of this big world. We’re now exploring as many countries as we can while we still can!

Our RV Travels

By September of 2016 we had achieved our goal of exploring all 49 states (Betsy can’t do Hawaii!).  In Canada we wandered through 8 provinces and 1 territory (Yukon), and in Mexico we headed across Sonora twice for extended beach parties.  We’ve traveled through 6 time zones and crossed the borders between the U.S, Canada and Mexico 30 times.  That was one heck of an adventure!

  • The Fabulous Acadia National Park – Maine

The Fabulous Acadia National Park – Maine

Acadia National Park had been on our radar screen for several years, and the time finally came for us to explore it.  We were not disappointed!  We quickly learned that the park covers much of Mount Desert Island, the largest island off the coast of Maine.  When visiting the…

  • Rim Rock Drive – Colorado National Monument – Fruita, CO

Before my hasty departure to the Philippines, Steve and I were well underway in our exploration and hiking at Colorado National Monument.  I was happy that my “guest blogger” was willing to fill in while I was gone, adeptly sharing his solo excursions as he made his way into Arizona.…

  • Remote, Rugged and Wild – Big Bend National Park

I can see now why Big Bend National Park is the least-visited national park. Coming here is not just a casual stop along the route to lots of other places; it’s remote location makes it a destination that requires driving more than two hours south of the nearest interstate highway.…

  • Tombs That Left Us In Awe – West Bank, Luxor

Tombs That Left Us In Awe – West Bank, Luxor

Day 46 – Sept 3, 2022 Our program director/Egyptologist Mohamed had us on the bus by 8:00am for a full day of adventure, and with a predicted high of 107º we knew it was going to be a hot one.  We were reminded to bring water, hats, sturdy shoes,…

  • From The Air And On The Ground – Luxor, Egypt

From The Air And On The Ground – Luxor, Egypt

Day 44-45; Sept 1-2, 2022 It was only a one-hour flight from Cairo to Luxor, and we were happy to arrive to calm and quiet. What a difference the two destinations make. It was striking, where Cairo was loud, frantic and overwhelmed by locals, Luxor welcomed us with empty…

  • Experiencing Jerusalem

    Experiencing Jerusalem

Can it be 2023 already? It seems like not so long ago we were sweating it out in the Middle East. And now I’m sweating again as I try to recall, reminisce and review our visit in Israel, Egypt and Jordan – the last segment of our summer travels.…
