Welcome to our refreshed blog site!

When we retired in 2012, we documented and shared our adventures as we traveled and explored our beautiful country for eight years while living full-time in an RV we named Betsy. This was how our blog site was born. We then sold our beloved “house on wheels” and have taken root in a sticks-and-bricks home in Arizona. Since then, our travel goals have been focused on seeing what’s out there in the rest of this big world. We’re now exploring as many countries as we can while we still can!

Our RV Travels

By September of 2016 we had achieved our goal of exploring all 49 states (Betsy can’t do Hawaii!).  In Canada we wandered through 8 provinces and 1 territory (Yukon), and in Mexico we headed across Sonora twice for extended beach parties.  We’ve traveled through 6 time zones and crossed the borders between the U.S, Canada and Mexico 30 times.  That was one heck of an adventure!

Whittier – A nice surprise at the end of a tunnel!

After setting up at the really nice Williwaw Campground in Portage that we learned about from our friends Joe and Judy, we decided to drive our car to Whittier, which can only be reached via The Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel.  The tunnel  is the longest combo vehicle-railroad  tunnel in…

One morning in Seward we woke up with a surprise, the sun showed up!  When we reserved for the Kenai Fjords National Park tour, we were expecting rain and so were happy the sun chose to come out this day.  We took a 7-hour cruise tour of the Kenai Fjords National…

  • Rainy Daze in Seward, Alaska

After basking in the sun in Kenai, we packed up and moved to the southeastern side of the Kenai Peninsula to  Seward. It is a  small picturesque city ringed by steep mountains on one side and the sparkling waters of Resurrection Bay on the other.  This is not only a fishing…

Hello Utah, and Zion National Park!

With the first day of Spring right around the corner, we sprinted out of Nevada and into Utah – our 46th state!  This is one state that Steve and I are really looking forward to spend a lot of time in.  It’s so full of amazing places, and we hope the…

Gateway to the wild and scenic – Cody, Wyoming

Cody is in the heart of the “American West”, a gateway to spectacular driving loops that allowed us to see the best of Wyoming.  We drove them until Steve threw up his arms and said ” enough driving already!”  Armed with a color-coded map, we set up our driving strategy and took off! Big Horn Mountains…

  • Final hikes beyond Zion National Park

Final hikes beyond Zion National Park

By the second week of our stay we avoided going into Zion National Park, for the spring break crowd with its associated traffic was getting tiresome.  We found some trails outside the park and just a few miles from our site at Zion River Resort in Virgin.  They didn’t have the…
