Amana Colonies RV Park – Other reviewers at rvparkreviews.com
September, 2014
The Lowe’s overall rating = 7 out of 10 stars
Noise level and overall “feel” of the park?
This was a fairly quiet park, even though there were a lot of RV’s coming
and going while we were there. Road noise was minimal, since the park is
located pretty much in the middle of corn fields.
Road and site access/type?
Gravel.
Spaciousness/levelness of sites?
All sites were long pullthroughs, but they were back-to-back so two RV’s
could fit. This put us right behind our neighbor, since he had to back up
to the utilities – which are poorly located. Sites were very level.
Utilities and WiFi/cell reception?
Power and water were strong and the Verizon signal was good.
Picnic table and/or fire pit?
Both, although the fire pit was too far away from the coach.
Facilities – bathrooms/showers/laundry room?
The shower rooms were very dark, but appeared to be clean. I liked the
benches and multiple hooks that were provided. The bathrooms were
old and not so nice. The laundry room was very nice, with 4 washers, 4
dryers and 2 folding tables.
Pet and/or kid friendly?
Yes for pets, tons of space for them to run. No for kids, no pool or
any activities for them to do. This is more of a “just passing through”
park for adult travelers.
Bike/walking trails nearby?
This was a big plus. Besides the perimeter road of the park itself
providing about a mile of walking, there was also access to the main
road which connected with Lilly Lake and several more miles of walking
paths – all paved.
Grocery stores and other services nearby?
Bummer. Only small “quick-stop” type stores near the park, almost 20
miles to a major grocery store where I could get fruits and veggies. I
need my fruits and veggies! I think one would have to go to Iowa City
(about 25 miles) for any other major services.
Comments:
This park had the worst dust I’ve seen since we were in the Yukon Territory.
I don’t know what kind of gravel they’re using, but it’s horrible and needs to
be fixed. People all over the park were complaining, and no matter how slow
we drove there was always a huge cloud of dust behind us. I would rate this
park higher if they would fix this problem.
