The Lowe’s overall rating (based on value for the
money, quality of amenities and utilities, site suitability
and what we think other RV’ers in our situation would
be looking for) = 4 out of 10 stars

 

Noise level and overall “feel” of the park?
This park was cramped, noisy and very busy, as might be expected
near a national park and especially during spring break.  There was
some traffic noise from the exterior road, HW-9.  The feeling of
being shoe-horned into a small site did not appeal to us, especially
for what they were charging.

Road and site access/type?
Roads were paved and sites were concrete.  Access into our
pull-through site was easy, and it looked like the back-in sites were
not bad either.

Sites spacious and/or level?  Comments?
Spacious – absolutely not.  Very crowded together, with most sites
separated by a tiny patch of lawn or gravel and a tree.  The concrete
pad allowed about 6″ of space on either side of our coach, not at all
usable to walk on.  The table was on a small pad, but all walking to
and from the coach had to be done on the (usually wet) lawn.  Our
pull-through site (#38) was long enough to hold the RV with the car
behind it.  It was level, I have to give them that!

Utilities and WiFi/cell reception?
The full hookup 50-amp power was strong, and water pressure was
good as well.  The Verizon to our boosted hotspot worked well most
of the time, but the phones showed only one bar and several calls
were dropped.

Picnic table and/or fire pit?
A decent aluminum table and fire pit were included at the sites we
viewed.

Bathrooms/showers/laundry room?
The bathrooms we checked in the main building were spotless and
very nice, each room was a full bathroom with a shower that had a
bench and hooks.  I really wanted to shower here!  The laundry
room was clean and consisted of 4 washers, 4 dryers and a tiny
folding table.

Pet friendly?
No – although there was a small “pet yard” at one end of the park,
not much else for doggies with the entire park being paved.  Several
folks took their dogs up some steps over to the adjacent river, but it
was full of rip-rap and not a nice place to hang out or walk around.

Bicycle/walking trails nearby?
Not right from the park, but hey, this is Zion and there were
unlimited opportunities in the area, of course.  That’s the main
reason we were here.

Groceries & other services nearby?
It was about 7 miles to the nearest grocery store in La Verkin,
which was small but had all of the essentials.  Next was the town
of Hurricane, which had a larger supermarket and several
restaurants.  To get large-scale shopping options and places to
have RV service work performed would mean a drive to St. George,
about 25 miles from this park.

Comments:
Horrendously over-priced!  This park loses huge points on value
for the money.  We paid almost $60/night, and this was no $60
park – even if it is near Zion National Park and they know they
can get it.  Although the amenities were very nice, we used none
of them and most other folks wouldn’t either if they were here to
visit and hike the gorgeous park.  It would make sense to look
into other parks in the area that will require a little longer drive
into Zion but be more affordable – for example, Sand Hollow
State Park has full hookups and got excellent reviews on
rvparkreviews.com.  We’ll be looking there next time!
