Big Cedar RV Park – Other reviewers at rvparkreviews.com
October, 2014
The Lowe’s overall rating = 8 out of 10 stars
Noise level and overall “feel” of the park?
There was some noise from the main road at the front of the
park during the day, but no large truck traffic. Noise within
the campground was minimal. The owner was very friendly
and helpful. A great small campground to use as a “home
base” while checking out the beautiful area.
Road and site access/type?
Gravel interior roads and the sites were on grass.
Spaciousness/levelness of sites?
Spacing was tight, with “back-to-back” utilities which put each
set of RV’s very close together. Our site (#15) was long enough
for the motorhome and car. Most sites were fairly level, but we
did have to use our jacks.
Utilities and WiFi/cell reception?
We had full hookups with strong 50-amp power and good water
pressure. The Verizon signal was strong as well.
Picnic table and/or fire pit?
Neither. It would have been nice to have a table to use during
a couple of the beautiful weather days we had while there.
Facilities – bathrooms/showers/laundry room?
There were two bathrooms (a men’s and women”s) that held
everything, including a shower. The building was old, but the
bathrooms were clean and the showers looked nice. There was
also a decent laundry room with 4 washers, 4 dryers and a large
folding table.
Pet and/or kid friendly?
Not really. This place was too small to have areas that dogs
could run in. No pool or other activities for kids.
Bike/walking trails nearby?
Big plus here, although none of the trails were accessible
directly from the park. There were many hiking trails within
a short driving distance.
Grocery stores and other services nearby?
The nearest store was over 20 miles away, and there were no
other services any closer. This place is pretty much out in the
sticks.
Comments:
This very small campground is located smack in the middle
of the Talimena Scenic Highway tour, and close to several
very nice hiking trails. These are the main attractions for
staying here, and the park was a good “base of operations”
for the drives and hiking we wanted to do. Beautiful area,
especially in late October when the colors are changing. I
rated it high because it had everything we wanted for our
particular activities here, but families might not think so
much of it.
