Gila Bend KOA – Other reviewers at rvparkreviews.com
February, 2016
The Lowe’s overall rating (based on value for the
money, quality of amenities and utilities, site suitability
and what we think other RV’ers in our situation would
be looking for) = 5 out of 10 stars

Noise level and overall “feel” of the park?
This was a busy park, with traffic flowing over the dusty gravel
roads quite often during the day. Not a destination park for
anything I can imagine in the area, but it was the starting point
for a caravan we took and a decent stopover for other travelers.
Some road, train and local airport noise during the day, none of
it overly obnoxious. The office staff was friendly and we were
led to our site upon entry.
Road and site access/type?
All gravel here, and backing into sites was easy due to the width
of the roads and sites.
Sites spacious and/or level? Comments?
We stayed at a pull-through and back-in site due to our
circumstances, and they were both spacious and close to level.
Spacing between sites was decent, and it was easy to park cars
next to or in front of large coaches.
Utilities and WiFi/cell reception?
The full hookup 50-amp electric service was strong, and water
pressure was good. The included cable had a decent selection
of channels. There was a cell tower nearby that provided
excellent cellphone and data service to our boosted hotspot.
Picnic table and/or fire pit?
The workers brought a table to our site, which was nice. No
fire pit.
Bathrooms/showers/laundry room?
The laundry room was quite nice, with 8 washers, 8 dryers
and a large folding table and ironing board. The restrooms
in the activities building were clean and nice, but there were
no showers while we were there – only a rented trailer with
3 small shower rooms until they build permanent ones.
Those showers were tiny but clean.
Pet and/or kid friendly?
If your pet enjoys walking around a hot desert parking lot
he’ll be happy here! Really not much for pets, and nothing
to offer kids – we didn’t see any young ones during our
several-day stay.
Bicycle/walking trails nearby?
There was a path that led out of the park and into the desert
that we followed one time. It appeared to go several miles
but wasn’t too interesting. Still, it was a way to get some
exercise.
Groceries & other services nearby?
The town of Gila Bend was only 10 minutes away, but there
were no grocery stores there and the nearest one seemed to
be at least 30 miles away. We didn’t get a chance to check it
out. No major services for RV’s, this was a very small town.
Comments:
Not a campground we would go out of our way to return to,
except as a stopover along the way. We’ve seen worse, but
we’ve also seen a lot better.
