We were looking forward to arriving in Moab, Utah, as several of our friends had already staked their claims at Portal RV Park. That alone was a hint that we’d be in good company and sharing some outdoor fun. Moab is a hub for outdoor activities, a vast scenic playground with enthusiasts of every kind flocking here. And we were happy to join them!
During the past few years that I’ve been following Joe and Gay of Good-times-rollin, they’ve never failed to amaze me with their tales of off-roading adventures in Moab. I had been hinting that I’d like to ride in one of those jeeps someday, if ever we crossed paths. Well, it finally happened as they invited us to ride along with a group of 4-wheelers on the iconic Hell’s Revenge Trail.
Dee is a smart and very experienced driver, and she made clearing obstacles and climbing super-steep hills look easy. We were in for a thrilling and scary ride.
Dee’s buggy and only two other vehicles made it up another scary hill called “The Escalator”.
Mike, the trip leader and our spotter was next in line for The Escalator, and he gingerly climbed right up:
I had no idea that rock crawling in Moab is set amongst such breathtaking views. It’s not a bad playground when large vistas sweep full circle from the La Sal Mountains all the way around to Arches National Park.
I can totally understand now why Joe and Gay have fallen in love with slickrock maneuvering – check out their site to see more of their 4-wheelin’ fun.
Thank you Joe, Gay and Dee for making my wish come true and giving us a memorable experience. It was a gorgeous day on the slickrocks, and we had a blast with our friends – old and new!
